When you think of public transportation, luxury isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. That is, unless you are traveling in Dubai.
The Dubai Metro, deemed the world’s longest driverless metro by The Guiness Book of World Records, is also by far the most luxurious.
The metro is divided into three classes. The gold class is a favorite among business moguls and the Emerati elite. Passengers hold morning meetings on their laptops, courtesy of the wifi internet, after they are received by hostesses. Throughout their trip, hostesses ensure that their every need is met. Seats are limited of course.
The second class is for women and children, and the silver class are economy seats. All three levels have air-conditioning and wireless internet.
The four-line system opened in 2009. On the first day of operation, nearly 10 percent of the population traveled on the metro.
