Haute 100 San Francisco Update: Google Co-Founder Larry Page’s Planetary Resources Announces Space Venture

Planetary Resources, a venture established by a powerful ring of media and aeronautics execs, announced today that the company is planning to mine near-Earth asteroids for water and precious metals.

The company made the announcement at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, explaining that technology makes it possible to mine outer space for natural resources.

Backers include Google co-founder Larry Page, Google chairman Eric Schmidt, Google board member K.Ram Shriram, filmmaker James Cameron, former Microsofter Charles Simonyi and Ross Perot, Jr.
