Haute 100 NY Update: Mayor Bloomberg Backs Down, Lets Trojan Give Away Adult Toys
Michael Bloomberg’s attempts to moderate New Yorkers’ lifestyle choices have earned him the nickname Nanny Bloomberg, but after initially blocking Trojan’s attempts to give away its frisky products on the street, the nanny has lightened up. Bloomberg’s office stepped in after 400 people lined up near Rockefeller Center and other distribution spots yesterday for free Trojan vibrators . The condom company had to wrap it up early since it hadn’t obtained the necessary permits.
After cutting through some red tape, Trojan is set to resume distribution of 10,000 gratis products from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today on 14th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues.
