You’ve Been Trumped, a pot-stirring documentary about Donald Trump’s controversial golf resort in a remote part of Scotland, is in select theaters today. Director Anthony Baxter, a native of the area on the North Sea coast, is sharply critical of Trump’s relentless, though still incomplete, march to build the $1.5 billion project (encompassing two 18-hole golf courses, a luxury hotel, villas and apartment buildings) on environmentally protected land over the fierce objections of local residents and officials.
Trump, never one to shy away from publicity, has kept uncharacteristically mum on the subject of the doc. Still, he’s been vocal about the stalled hotel portion of the project, leaving the fate of the 450-room lodging in limbo until plans are scrapped to build an offshore wind farm nearby, marring ocean views from the suites.
