On Gossamer bras and lingerie were once a staple in every girl’s top drawer. One of the brand’s founders, Hayley Denman, now spends her time focusing on her line of jewelry, Hayley Style Rocks. Hayley is a Miami native, whose signature style combines attitude with sophistication. Layered over a t-shirt by day, or with a LBD by night, Hayley’s “rocks” are the ultimate representation of Miami style: “natural and confident.” Hayley focuses first and foremost on her customer, always considering what makes women both look and feel beautiful. Through the use of precious and semi-precious stones, each Hayley Style rock leaves her devoted clients feeling just as one-of-a-kind as her pieces are.

RA: What was the concept behind On Gossamer?

HD: We wanted to give the American market beautiful European style lingerie without the expensive price tag.  On Gossamer was known for it’s beautiful shear fabrics.  On gossamer was a very innovative lingerie company because of styling as well as fabrication.

RA: How did you, your sister, and your mother come up with it?

HD: My mother was the creator of the brand.  She always loved beautiful lingerie.  My sister and I joined her a year later.  I built the brand through merchandising and sales.

RA: How did your success in intimate apparel help guide you when you entered a new market in jewelry?

HD: I was in the high end wholesale business for 17 years.  I had experience with the buyers.  I was able to make women feel beautiful on the inside with the lingerie and now with the jewelry I can do it on the outside.  Women like to feel beautiful and I love to make them look beautiful.

RA: How would you define Hayley Style Rocks? Who is your customer?

HD: My clients are women who want a sense of cool style.  The women who like my jewelry have a sense of fashion and want to wear what is the next best thing.  I believe I am ahead of the curve in design. My clients wear Hayley Style as their fun every day jewelry.  They travel with it and enjoy it.  The Bulgari and Tiffany is locked up in the vault and they live with my pieces.

RA: Who are some of your favorite designers/brands?

HD: Chanel is the ultimate in classic beauty. For design innovation I love Plein Sud.

RA: If you could “drench” any one celebrity in Hayley Style Rocks, who would it be?

HD: I have adorned several celebrities in my rocks.  I would love to style Kate Hudson.

RA: Where is Hayley Style Rocks sold?

HD: The Four Season’s Hawaii ,Select  Ritz Carlton,  Rose Ark, Ida and Harry at the Fontainebleau, and Montage hotels

RA: Define your style in one word.

HD: Chic.

RA: How has living in Miami influenced you as a designer?

HD: I think living in Miami has allowed me to be innovative in design. I design for our beautiful climate without being influenced by what others may be doing in a big city like NY.
