Tokyo jeweler Ginza Tanaka has taken Christmas decorations to the next level. Known for his opulent creations and attention to detail, Tanaka has created an extravagant, pure gold Christmas tree worth nearly $1.95 million. The jeweler had created a $850,000 golden Christmas tree in 2006, but he’s managed to top himself this year.

The tree weighs in at 12 kilograms of solid gold and stands 2.4 meters high. It’s decorated with golden plates, heart-shaped ornaments made of pure gold, and ribbon. The tree will be displayed through December 25th at the Ginza store in Tokyo.

Swarovski is another jeweler throwing its hat into the luxury Christmas decorations ring. The sparkling 2011 Swarovski Star, recently unveiled in Rockefeller Center, is made of 25,000 crystals and weighs over 550 pounds. The star’s crystal panels are composed of six outer rays and six smaller inner rays made of point-mounted safety glass, resulting in a very sparkly Rockefeller Center.
