Charlene Hamiwka

Charlene M. Hamiwka is the founder, President, and Designated Broker of Harcourts Waterfront & Fine Properties, headquartered in Augusta, Maine. She launched the brokerage in 2021 as the first Harcourts North America office on the East Coast, bringing an international network and a distinctive luxury non-distressed auction platform to Maine's real estate market. The firm is affiliated with Harcourts International, one of the world's largest real estate companies, and serves buyers and sellers throughout the state.

Charlene's path to real estate followed a substantial career in technology, where she spent more than two decades as an executive for companies ranging from IBM to firms in Silicon Valley. She began investing in and renovating properties as a personal passion before turning to real estate full-time in 2009. After managing a local franchise, she joined Legacy Properties Sotheby's International Realty in Camden, Maine in 2012, where she spent nearly a decade as Senior Vice President and one of the firm's top-producing agents before opening her own Harcourts office.

She holds the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS) designations, and is recognized as a Featured Expert member of the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing, reflecting specialized training and experience in the upper-tier residential market. Charlene holds a B.S. in Forest Biology from Syracuse University and an M.S. in Computer Science/Software Engineering from the University of Maine at Orono — an academic background that complements her technology-driven approach to marketing.

Charlene's local expertise spans Maine's most distinctive regions, including Rangeley Lakes, Moosehead Lake, the Mid-Coast, and Downeast areas. Her recent work includes oceanfront and multi-acre coastal properties in Harpswell and Owls Head, a waterfront haven in Blue Hill, and a historic antique home in Winthrop — reflecting a practice that spans both grand coastal estates and Maine's classic countryside properties. Originally from the mid-Hudson Valley in New York, she has called Maine home since 1980.
