No matter where we are around the world, on August 8th our friends make sure that we all come together in Sardinia to celebrate the birthday of our friend Fawaz Gruosi, the owner of the De Grisogono jewelry company.
Fawaz is loved by so many people, so about 350 of us arrived from around the world for the celebration. This is the 7th year I have celebrated Fawaz’s birthday, and every year it just gets better!
The tradition is that Fawaz closes Cipriani for a sit-down dinner. It is a chance to see all our friends from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, India, and beyond. Although the Cipriani food is of course amazing, from the moment you walk in hardly any touches the food, because we start dancing right away! Usually by the main course we are all already on the stage dancing with the performers. Fawaz gives a speech after dessert, which is usually capped off by the release of thousands of balloons into the sky!
