Haute Event: Mother’s Day Mercado for Arizona Breast Cancer Patients & Survivors

Valley moms gathered at Fiesta Furnishings in Scottsdale Airpark on May 7 for a special Mother’s Day Mercado shopping event to benefit the Arizona Institute for Breast Health. Attendees enjoyed perusing such fun items as chocolates, jewelry, apparel and accessories, with the proceeds from their purchases supporting of the cause.

In addition to shopping, there was also a raffle, which featured gift basket prizes donated by such organizations as Anasazi Medical Aesthetics, Bentley’s Biscuits, Farrelli’s Cinema Supper Club, Fiesta Furnishings, Outrageous Olive Oils, Starbucks and Trader Joe’s.

The Mercado was hosted by Fiesta Furnishings‘ Claudia LeClair, who is breast cancer survivor and a staunch supporter of raising funds in the fight against the disease. Many of the event’s vendors also included women who are breast cancer survivors, or who have survivors in their families.

The event successfully raised more than $2,000 for the AIBH, whose mission is to offer women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer a second opinion completely free of charge.

AIBH was co-founded by Scottsdale residents Dr. Coral Quiet and Dr. Belinda Barclay-White, who have both been active in the fight against breast cancer on the local and national level for decades. Dr. Quiet is also the co-founder of Arizona Breast Cancer Specialists, the first radiation oncology center in the state strictly for women with breast cancer.
