I have to agree with Miz G - I am a native San Franciscan, not only do I know the names of the players - I know some of them personally!!

I am appalled at the city of San Francisco - our Mayor has been too damned busy running for president that he does not have time to run the city properly!! I live in Marin and it is going to be a chore for me to get to games - but I am excited about a new stadium which should have been built in San Francisco!!

Art...
Have you ever been to a music concert? At any large event, that large amounts of people attend, there are going to be huge traffic jams. Heck it takes me 30 minutes to get out of my church parking lot. In other words no matter where the 49ers build a stadium there are going to be massive traffic jams.

Item two: The citizens of San Francisco do want a stadium built here for the 49ers. We have voted TWICE for the city and the 49ers to do so. In my opinion the problem has been with the Yorks and our current mayor ( Newsom).

Jed York's on the right track. I've been to dozens of games at the Stick and I've left that stadium after a game and headed into the city, south on 101 and east on 80 over the Bay Bridge and the only significant traffic I've hit is heading south. Why? Because a huge majority of the fans live in San Mateo and Santa Clara County. Hell, I used to work in the city for about 6 years and I can tell you that for every fan who lives in SF, I've met 2 or 3 who live there who couldn't name a single player. SF deserves the team, but the reality is that the 49ers have tried for more than 20 years to get a stadium there and the efforts went nowhere at all until talk of them moving to Santa Clara surfaced. It would be great if they stayed in the city, but if they end up in SC, only the people of SF will be to blame. And if all the 49ers fans in SF turn into Raiders fans over night just because they move down the road (to a great location by the way), well, I guess they weren't diehard fans to begin with. I don't know any fans in the South Bay who plan to jump ship if they stay in SF. Who cares how close to SF City Hall the stadium would be? The City Council doesn't strike me as a bunch of diehards, but the fans I know down in San Jose and Santa Clara and Sunnyvale who drive 40 plus miles for every game sure are.

Let's face it the Yorks have never embraced the city of San Francisco and its citizens like Mr. D did. Heck, they bullied the team away from Mr. D, and now they are doing the same to San Francisco. How do you explain the Yorks desire to move the team from a city thats history is so tied with each other? It really puzzles me as to why the Yorks want to put a stadium next to an amusement park. After all that experiment was done in the 1960's when the former Houston Oilers had their stadium next to the Six Flags AstroWorld amusement park. Which may I add both do not exist anymore. Its just so backwards looking, and so, so, retro to proceed with the Santa Clara site. Here you have a world class city, San Francisco and beautiful views from a waterfront stadium. It just does not add up to me.

San Francisco will not "allow" the team to use San Francisco in it's name. An entire city of 700,000 will literally become Raider fans over night and despise the ownership for it's betrayal of a city that helped them get 5 Superbowl trophies. Bill Walsh is literally rolling in his grave .....bring back Eddie D......this punk kid is an absolute joke with no regard for the John Brodies, YA Titles, Ronnie Lotts, Fred Deans etc that spilled blood for this franchise....

the fans, the 49ers and the NFL deserve better than just good. especially with respect to the 49ers "quest" for a new stadium. the city of San Francisco, the Yorks and the 49ers need to understand that and come together. its true that the 49ers represent Northern California (agreed) but the Santa Clara stadium site is no closer to most of them and its a staggering 43 miles from San Francisco City Hall. The average distance in the NFL is about 7 miles (from a team's stadium to its respective City Hall). The proposed site would be the farthest in the NFL by far. I've heard good things about Jed, including that he's passionate and smart. And this stadium issue is complicated. Jed no doubt understands it much better than I do (I’d love to talk to him to understand what’s really going on . . . ). but why not go for better than just good? Good is the Santa Clara Stadium. Good is making the playoffs. Great would be a new stadium of striking design and location in the world-class city of San Francisco (Hunter’s Point) that serves as the centerpiece for a new community. One that revitalizes a key area of the city’s spectacular waterfront and its people . . . one that makes the next five Super Bowl trophies more meaningful than just a game (savethe49ers.com).

This guy is an absolute clown. Owner? President? His daddy married Eddie DeBartolo's sister. This guy is the most reviled man in the City and County of San Francisco. He's holding the storied history of our franchise hostage by threatening to move to Santa Clara. If this guy walked down the street anywhere in town he would be tarred and feathered. Absolute joke.
