It’s certainly not a new trend for luxury watchmakers to team up for sponsorships of elite sporting events, and Richard Mille is certainly not one to ignore the trends. Back in April, the brand marked its foray into yachting regattas with its sponsorship of “Les Voiles de St. Barth” regatta on the Caribbean island of St. Barth. A worldly watch for the world’s game, Swiss-born luxury watch brand Hublot announced in April that it is bringing its reputation for action and movement to the soccer field as the official watchmaker of the FIFA World Cup in June 2010 in South Africa and in the summer of 2014 in Brazil.
