The Jet Business is the world’s first corporate aviation showroom for business jet aircraft located at One Grosvenor Place in London, designed to provide high net worth individuals, government officials, royalty and influential corporate executives with a place to plan their business jet sale or purchase with experts.

The unique space has reinvented how business aircraft are sold and purchased. In The Jet Business, guests can fully immerse and educate themselves on business jet aircraft with a sales and research team on hand to provide independent, transparent and impartial advice.

The showroom’s technology is powered by a customized iPad application that is able to compare and contrast various aircrafts with an individual’s personal profile. Criteria for the comparison include how much they want to spend, how many passengers they intend to have on board, what range they need, what is their preference on aircraft age and so on. Electronic floor to ceiling screens display images and full size 1:1 cabin cross sections of the suggested jets.

The brainchild behind The Jet Business, Steve Varsano spent five years planning the venture and says, “Business jet flying is all about saving time and we are mirroring that ethos with The Jet Business. There are many new buyers out there, from Asia and the Middle East and the emerging markets, who need education on the types available and their specific operating characteristics. Here, they can consider all the options in a dynamic setting.”

Varsano has three decades of global experience brokering aircraft and since 1980 he has brokered hundreds of aircraft transactions, representing both buyers and purchasers, with a combined value of more than $3 billion. Varsano firmly believes that business aviation and its clientele base can expand dramatically is customers know more about the purchasing or leasing process.

The Jet Business focuses on the higher end of the business jet sector with aircrafts such as Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault, Embraer, Gulfstream and Hawker Beechcraft. Varsano is also considering adding the new Supersonic to his showroom and possibly even expanding The Jet Business into the realm of the upper end of the helicopter market.

The Jet Business is located in London but Varsano plans to add additional global locations. For clients who can’t make it to the showroom, The Jet Business will send a team to any destination in the world with a mobile version.

If private aviation is your little piece of heaven, you may be interested in taking it one step further and purchase your very own personal fighter jet plane. The price ranges from $76,511 up to $102,014.

Those with significant discretionary income enjoy purchasing haute toys and the more original the purchase, the better. If you’re in the market for a personal fighter jet, like Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen who owns a MiG-29 fighter jet plane, the opportunity is now available. With a historical connection to the French Air Force, a Fouga CM 170 Magister fighter jet is now on sale at the Artcurial Aeronautics Auction, with a price tag estimate between $76,511 and $102,014.

The plane, which was used in the Congo-France war in 1963 and the Algiers war in the late 1960s, has traveled to more than 22 different countries and close to 12,000 of the world’s best pilots have trained using this aircraft. The Magister was flown by Patrouille de France (La PAF), the Irish Air Corps Silver Swallows, Belgium’s Red Devils, Brazil’s Esquadrilha de Fumaca and Israel’s Aerobatic Demo Team for several decades and even as recent as July 2010. There are very few of these types of fighter jets that remain, and this one has a travel capacity of nearly 1,200 km in a single flight. The cutting edge engine features two Turbomeca Marbone VI carburetors and can take the 3,200 kg jet up to 715 km/hr.

The Fouga CM 170 Magister jet was originally designed as a glider and later redesigned, improved and manufactured in France as the World’s first large production Advanced Jet Fighter Training Aircraft. The jet was eventually replaced with the Dassault-Breguet/Dornier Alpha Jet in 1981 by the Patrouille de France, however the Fouga Magister still holds a special place of distinction throughout the world for its aviation historical value.

Christine Holifield graduated from Sylmar High School and spent much of her time afterwards daydreaming about owning her own business. Last week, Holifield, who now owns Elite Aviation, was partying with Christina Aguilera to celebrate an exclusive deal to sell a line of premier Piaggio Aero jets.

Elite Aviation has been operating for nearly two decades and is a full service aviation company providing high-end service and guidance in aircraft charter, aircraft management, maintenance and sales. Since the beginning, Elite Aviation has flown nearly 70 million miles – equivalent to 150 trips to the moon and back. The company has a diverse fleet of nearly 20 jet aircrafts including Citation, Hawker, Challenger, Falcon and Gulfstream.

Following the “All that is Fabulous” bas on Thursday at Van Nuys Airport, which drew 400 VIP guests to mingle among luxury planes and cars from Maseratis to Marilyn Monroe’s pink Caddy, Holifield says, “I wanted to launch my own company under new ownership – and give it a new send-off.” Holifield is one of the few women in the world to own and operate a full-service premier charter jet company.

Elite Aviation employs 34 workers and is one of five fixed-base operators at Van Nuys Airport. The company has three women executives, who manage and maintain a fleet of 13 charter jets.

The company flies clients such as Aguilera and provides 24-hour access to staff, concierge service and an in-house gourmet chef. It also has an unblemished safety record during its 20 years of service.

The new partnership with Italian maker of luxury jets and scooters, Piaggio Aero, will make Elite Aviation’s 20,000-square-foot hanger and adjacent offices the West Coast sales center for California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. It will also allow Elite Aviation to fly and sell Piaggio’s flagship jet, P180 Avanti II, which is billed as the fastest and most advanced executive turbo prop in the world. It sells for approximately $8.5 million and is furnished in cherry wood and leather. It is expected to be available by Thanksgiving.

John Bingham, president and CEO of Piaggio America says, “We’re focusing efforts to expand our presence in North America and this new partnership will help us achieve this. Elite Aviation has the experience and capabilities needed to connect with buyers.”

Holifield is the daughter of a Cuban father and Spanish mother and after graduating from high school she went from job to job never lasting more than three months before getting fired. Eventually, she began buying apartments and homes and fixing them up to sell before co-founding Lynx Realty to develop 4,000 upscale apartments, mostly in the Central Valley. In 2007, Holifield purchased Elite Aviation to being a personal touch to premier charters, with clients she describes as Fortune 100 – off-limits to paparazzi.

“Whatever a client wants, we do. I’m known for my attention to detail,” she says. “I’m known for getting on the plane and personally inspecting the china. And to make sure each bottle is properly chilled. If I see a pilot who has rolled out of bed, I’ll make sure he’s changed his shirt.”

With demand for private jets on the rise, there has been a corresponding surge for customized interiors, with greater luxury, and updated modern designs. Buyers are looking for ‘accommodation on the move’. Airbus, a veteran of 170+ corporate jets, has unveiled the world’s largest corporate jet cabin that provides all that one might need in a modern day professional setup.

The cabin has been fitted on the Airbus ACJ 318 aircraft, and a luxury charter services is currently being rendered by Comflux, through whom one can hire the aircraft to experience this ‘office in the skies’. Amenities aboard include the 2 convertible bedrooms and attached bathrooms, lounge-cum-dining-cum meeting area with LCD Television, with designer leather sofas and convertible tables. The lounge also features a service station, which could be useful during the dining meets. Not to forget, are the multiple plug points for your electronics at various parts of the cabin. All of this and more is spread over an area of close to 800 square feet, far larger than the average small apartment. The capacity for accommodation of guests (not including crew members) is 19.

The cabin was recently put on display at the Jet Expo in Moscow, which gave visitors an experience of what it could be like, abroad the Airbus ACJ 318 corporate jet. With the current services allowing intercontinental travel, corporate execs don’t need to worry any longer about exclusive spaces in the sky.

Bombardier presents an all new luxurious business jet, the Global Express XRS, featuring the integration of the Lufthansa NICE cabin system that was customized for it’s first implementation on a Jet Aviation – Midcoast/Bombardier aircraft.

The Global Express is not only a beauty to look at; it’s also a gem to fly in. The aircraft features a pixelated gradient paint scheme composed of thousands of small grey dots that were meticulously calculated for an avant-garde exterior paint effect that is rarely seen on a large body aircraft. The gradient element is also carried on into the cabin area in the 27 hued, hand-tufted and carved silk and wool carpet.

To create a more spacious cabin feel, horizontal lines were used as a design element and they are repeated from the carpet to the seating upholstery to the veneered timber applications. The veneer is a high-gloss stained Mozambique wood species that was specifically handpicked sheet by sheet for optimum depth, grain movement and custom effect.

No detail is left unperfected in the Global XRS, including the mother of pearl tiled bulkhead in the principal lavatory. There is also a honed granite counter and a vanity also made from the horizontal grain of the Mozambique wood species.

Access has long designed luxury jets for the elite, but only recently the company set out to customize those jets. Access has officially launched their premium jet customization unit, called ‘Access Custom Jets’, which will cater to an elite segment looking to personalize their flying machines.

When it comes to the uber-rich, personalization is everything.  Examples include Soulja Boy’s recent purchase of a $55 million private flyer and Donald Trump’s $100 million private Boeing 757, which were completely redone according to the customer’s style and taste.

Access planes will be customized based on what the customer is really looking for.  Interior personalization options can include fabric color selection and texture options, individual lights and electronic equipment, inaddition to all of the general amenities, any of which might catch the customer’s fancy.  Specifications within the jets can include built-in roll cages of carbon fiber, TV sets, DVD players, unique lighting equipment, high-end audio systems such as Bose and even a refrigerator to store food and beverages.  The notable advantages for this are the overall lighter body weight for carbon fiber, insurance flexibilities and advanced avionics which would make the ride in the sky comfortable, and live up to the expectations of the owner.  Access will have default features in their planes which would include flying heights of 28,000 feet, engine capabilities such as top speed of 420 knots and cruising at 380 knots, and the extended fuel tank for an uninterrupted journey.

Each year the rate of demand is increasing, and Access Custom Jets will likely have a growing clientele of stars and business tycoons.

Flexjet – the private jet services company of Bombardier, the world’s largest manufacturer of business jets – is now offering its customers special benefits including special destination package options and room upgrades. part of it’s alliance with Rosewood Hotels and Resorts.

Earlier this year, Flexjet announced an agreement with Abercrombie & Kent to provide its owners with complimentary Marco Polo Club membership and other premium services.

Flexjet first entered the fractional jet ownership market in 1995. Flexjet now offers whole aircraft ownership and management, fractional jet ownership, jet cards and charter brokerage services. Flexjet’s fractional program fields an exclusive family of Bombardier business aircraft – the youngest in the fractional jet industry with an average age of 4.3 years – including the Learjet 40 XR, Learjet 45 XR, Learjet 60 XR, Challenger 300 and Challenger 605 business jets.

On Friday, July 1, renowned aircraft design brand Design Q released their latest concept for the Avro Business Jet (ABJ), the ABJ Eleganté. Stylish private fliers should be familiar with the brand and their establishment in the field of futuristic aircraft design, including the ABJ Fusion and Air Deck, both innovative firsts in aviation.

According to Born Rich, this is the fourth of five concepts of luxe interiors by BAE Systems. The first two concepts were unveiled at Geneva’s European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) in October of last year, and the third was a sleek concept designed with sports teams, musicians, celebrities, and corporate VIPs in mind, also unveiled last year.

The ABJ Eleganté is comprised of a chic, fluid layout that upholds a natural traffic flow through the craft and makes optimal use of the available space. The furniture is of rich, high-quality wood veneer, which is designed to match the interior’s ambient light, while fabric is finished with fluid shapes and results in that posh, slightly futuristic effect. Despite the state-of-the-art interior, the concept is actually quite affordable and allows jetsetting clients an aesthetically pleasing craft that still boasts ample interior space.

Upon entrance, the craft opens up into the spacious cabin followed by a large front gallery that has the option to be closed off from the main cabin for privacy. Ever social-minded, the design also features a lounge area with two large sofas as well as a sizeable dining table in the aft with an impressive 46’ display screen – an area which can also be used for business as it also boasts information screens embedded into the facade with power supply for computers and a central pop-up communication center.

An additional lounge and private office are attached to the aft cabin, each with a personal bookshelf. The room can also double as a private bedroom with a full-sized double bed. The aircraft is also host to a full-height wardrobe, and a full-width bathroom and dressing room, with the bathroom featuring a designer sink against a stone wall, stylish wood side units, revolving mirror, and a hidden storage area. The area features a stone floor and noise-reducing curtains over the rear exit doors.

Of the innovative and anticipated new concept, Chris Sedgwick, Technical Sales Executive for BAE Systems Regional Aircraft, comments, “A fully converted ABJ of this level of quality can be put on the ramp for between US $12-15 million, or the cost of a much smaller mid-sized business jet, and certainly for considerably less than a new-build regional jet conversion. The large cabin space of the ABJ means that an interior arrangement close to that of a Boeing Business Jet can be accommodated, so the ABJ can be a useful complement to the bigger aircraft for shorter journeys, or to access difficult, short or unpaved airfields.”

Abu Dhabi has recently launched the region’s first private jet airport. The airport is located in the heart of the Emirate and will feature luxuriously decorated rooms, conference rooms, private offices, maximum security and privacy.

The airport serves as the gateway to the UAE without the hassle of the masses.
