This past Saturday, the James Beard Foundation honored chef, TV personality and multiple JBF Award-winner Emeril Lagasse at Chefs & Champagne New York at the Wölffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack, N.Y. Chef Daniel Boulud's db bistro is a 120-seat dining room feels immediately inviting upon entering. Wedge wood-carved furniture, metal bead curtains, and red rubbed plaster walls are all offset by the warmth of amber colored glass, fabric-wrapped ceiling panels, and olive toned velveteen upholstery. Opened by Hooni Kim, who has worked at both Daniel and Masa, Danji is a diminutive Hell's Kitchen restaurant that is easy to walk right past. Entering the tiny space, you are greeted with a bar, industrial-chic decor and several long communal tables, as well as more intimate tables in the back.  [...read more]
