Haute 100 San Francisco Update: Mark Zuckerberg Speaks Out Against SOPA and PIPA Bills

Haute 100 member and Silicon Valley tech-genius Mark Zuckerberg put out a Facebook status and broke an almost three-year silence on Twitter to declare his stance against SOPA and PIPA bills and encourage his fellow techies to do the same.

“The Internet is the most powerful tool we have for creating a more open and connected world,” Zuckerberg said on his Facebook post. “We can’t let poorly thought out laws get in the way of the Internet’s development. Facebook opposes SOPA and PIPA, and we will continue to oppose any laws that will hurt the Internet.”

Zuckerberg used his ability to reach people in mass quantities to encourage individuals to contact their congressmen to ensure the bills don’t get passed. Just three days ago, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Smith decided to postpone drafting SOPA, choosing instead to come up with a better solution to the problem.
