Ubiquitous, irritating smartphones won’t be the only things filming Haute100 lister Jay-Z’s Made in America festival in Philadelphia next month: Oscar-winning director-producer pair Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are planning a documentary about the proceedings. “The festival showcases 20 preeminent artists that speak to the new generation,” Grazer told Page Six. “[The concert doc] is going to be born through Jay-Z’s perspective.”
Pearl Jam, Drake, Skrillex, Rick Ross and Jay are among Made In America’s brightest musical stars. They’ll take over Philly’s Benjamin Frankly Parkway on September 1 and 2 for the first installment of the festival. Howard and Grazer are one of Hollywood’s most successful creative teams. They’ve previously collaborated on Splash, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind and The Da Vinci Code.
