Haute 100 LA Update: Steven Soderbergh to Feature Marvin Hamlisch’s Final Score in ‘Behind The Candelabra’

Legendary Hollywood composer Marvin Hamlisch had just completed his final score when he died from lung failure at the age of 68 on August 6.

That project happened to be for Steve Soderbergh’s Liberace biopic, Behind the Candelabra.

Producer Jerry Weintraub confirmed the news with Showbiz 411, stating: “He finished it all.” He added: “I can’t believe what happened. He was a great guy.”

The film stars Matt Damon and Michael Douglas; it is set for a 2013 release.

Hamlisch also provided the music for Soderbergh and Damon’s 2009 film, The Informant.
