Haute 100 LA Update: Kobe Bryant’s Horse Beaten by a Nose at Hollywood Park Opening Day Races

Kobe Bryant plays to win, but unfortunately lost by a nose at the racetrack on Sunday.

Siempre Mio, the gelding he co-owned with fellow Lakers star Pau Gasol, was beaten by a small margin during the opening day of races at Betfair Hollywood Park.

The horse was overtaken by 3-5 favorite Valkyrie Missile in the photo finish ending, losing $12,500 in earnings for the NBA stars.

It was the first and last time the horse wore the purple and gold Lakers colors: the gelding was claimed after the race by Donkey Island Racing, a partnership that includes New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.
