Jeffrey Deitch Chosen as Head of Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art

Yesterday, Haute Living reported that MOCA had delayed its press conference in which it planned to announce who the new head of the museum would be. We’re happy to announce that just hours later they have made it official, and the position has gone to noted New York gallery owner Jeffrey Deitch.

MOCA has just made the announcement that Jeffrey Deitch will take over the position of longtime director Jeremy Strick after Strick resigned “in the midst of a financial meltdown two years ago.”

After being forced to make layoffs, like the rest of the nation, MOCA “used up its reserve funds and took a $30 million bailout from its chairman, billionaire Eli Broad,” according to The Huffington Post.

After hearing the news, Glenn Lowry, director of New York’s Museum of Modern Art, said Deitch, who is a Harvard Business School graduate, has run one of the “most exciting and adventuresome galleries” in that city.
