Jennifer Lopez can now add one more title to her collection of descriptors: CCO.

The 43-year-old entertainer has been named chief creative officer of NUVOtv.

It was announced last fall that Lopez would act as a creative partner with the English-language Latino network, but her role within the company has increased and was announced as such this week during NUVOtv’s upfronts presentation.

Additionally, the actress, singer, dancer, former American Idol judge and producer will also be the subject of a 90-minute biographical special.

Asked if her on-camera presence is likely to extend beyond those programs, she said yes — “if we find a great show that I would star in anyway. But I always want to do what’s right for the network as opposed to using it as a vehicle for myself. That’s not the point.”

The fight for the opportunity to remake the Miami Beach’s aging Convention Center took another step today with the final reveal of Rem Koolhaas and South Beach-ACE’s exciting plans. Local partner and Haute 100-Lister developer Robert Wennett is partnering with Tishman Group, who have executed similarly large-scale project such as New York City’s Jacob Javits Convention Center. Between hidden parking lots, a unique plan to make the Jackie Gleason an amphitheater, modernist designs involving acres more green space by beloved Miami landscape designer Raymond Jungles the plan seems poised to win the nomination. But it will take a little longer to find out who wins as the city has delayed the original June 5 vote in order to take more time to consider who will win the bid, Tishman or Portman. The information is complex because both proposals involve a convention center overhaul and hotel and the possible development much of the center’s 52-acre district with residential buildings and parks. The redevelopment of the area will bring about drastic changes of the area for the better along with attracting a better quality of conventions and shows into the area.

LeBron James, star power forward for the Miami Heat, has claimed the title of second highest paid athlete in the US this year according to Sports Illustrated, beat out only by welterweight boxer, Floyd Mayweather Jr.  Although he earns $17.5 million playing for the Miami Heat, it is James’ $39 million endorsement deals with brands like Samsung, Nike and Baskin-Robbins that allowed him to edge out previous high-earners such as Tiger Woods and Kobe Bryant. By league standards his Miami Heat paycheck isn’t that large, but will surely increase with his clinching of his 4th NBA MVP award. In addition to his sponsorship contracts, which includes the biggest deal with Nike ever, James is part owner of a Liverpool soccer club. Sports Illustrated determines their Fortunate 50 candidates by analyzing salaries, winnings, bonuses, and endorsements. Chris Bosh, James’ Miami Heat teammate, rounds out the list at number 47. Interestingly, David Beckham rates #1 on international lists coming in at an annual take home of $48 million, which James easily beats out, effectively making the NBA star the second highest paid athlete in the world.

Who better to host the season finale of one of television’s longest-running shows than the man of the year, Ben Affleck?

The Oscar-winning director will host “SNL” this Saturday evening, May 18.

He promoted his appearance this week alongside departing cast member Bill Hader with Argo jokes galore.

The evening also features a performance from Kanye West.

Stephen Ross, the billionaire owner of the Miami Dolphins, is one of the latest additions to The Giving Pledge, a group of millionaires and billionaires who joined with Warren Buffet and Bill and Melinda Gates in pledging half of their worth to charity. Ross, currently in the news for his attempts to refurbish Dolphin Stadium, is worth $4.4 billion according to Forbes and in pledging joins the likes of Diane Von Furstenberg and George Lucas.

In his pledge letter, Ross explains that while he has preferred to keep his philanthropic work private, he hopes that “…through publicly committing to the Giving Pledge… [he] will inspire others to commit to significant philanthropy the way [his] uncle inspired [him].”

Ross will focus his philanthropic efforts in improving sustainability in cities, explaining that he has “…always believed that if our cities do well, we all do well.” In order to attain this goal, Ross is partnering with the World Resources Institute, an environmental think tank, to, as Ross puts it, “create a visionary leadership foundation to assist cities around the world.” Through his pledge, Ross will also be funding arts, education, and healthcare.

The Related Group has just unveiled plans for MAREA, their latest project on Miami Beach’s elegant South of Fifth neighborhood. The plans for the sexy low-rise building are coming out as Related is still in the midst of selling the adjacent One Ocean.

This ultra posh, 7- floor low-rise will feature a curved-box design by the exceptional team of Sieger Suarez architects, who also did the Related Group’s nearby Apogee. The project includes a total of 30 residential units including 24 condos (1500-2300 sq ft), two townhouses and four 6,000 square foot penthouses. 20,000 sq ft of retail space is also part of the plan as are interiors by Yabu Pushelberg and Enzo Enea.

Orchestrated by the Related Group’s visionary founder, Jorge Perez, this spectacular property will bring a unique touch of art and design surrounded by the sparkling panorama of Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.  Prices will range from $1,200 to $1,300 per sq ft. and the completion is expected for 2014 at 801 S Pointe Drive, Miami Beach.

Jessica Alba will host the first ever Social Star Awards in Singapore this May.

She will co-host the inaugural event with a still-unnamed co-host from the Sands MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands.

Musicians, footballers, actors and the movers and shakers of Singapore will be present at the event, where 12 awards will be presented to some of the biggest stars in the worlds of music, TV, film and sport.

The show will feature performances from Aerosmith, CeeLo Green, PSY, and Carly Rae Jepsen, among others.

On the announcement of her role as Host of the Social Star Awards, the 32-year-old Honest Company founder and actress said: “I’m thrilled to be co-hosting the first-ever Social Star Awards and look forward to seeing everyone in Singapore to celebrate these social media superstars.”

Miami Heat star Chris Bosh and his wife Adrienne are expecting another baby. “We’re very excited,” said Adrienne to a group of women at at Team Tomorrow luncheon. “We’ve always wanted a big family, so we’re right around that path. Hopefully two or three more after this and we couldn’t be happier!” The couple married in 2011 and have a one-year-old son together, Jackson, Trinity, Bosh’s daughter from a previous relationship.

Last night, Adrienne took to Twitter to announce the news to everyone with photos of Jackson and Trinity holding signs that read, “I’m a big sister again,” and “I’m being promoted to a big brother.” This is an exciting time for the Bosh family, especially with the Miami Heat leading 3-1 in the playoffs against the Chicago Bulls. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Leonardo DiCaprio joined forces with Christie’s on Monday night for the 11th Hour charity auction, which raised $38,827,000 million for the actor’s environmental and wildlife foundation. Thirty-three works by contemporary artists including Ed Ruscha, Julian Schnabel, Banksy, Elizabeth Peyton, Takashi Murakami and Raymond Pettibon sold at record-breaking prices, nine for over one million dollars.

The star-studded event, which was attended by Tobey Maguire, Bradley Cooper, Salma Hayek and Mark Ruffalo, broke 13 world auction records for several artists including Longo and Mark Grotjahn. The auction also attracted attention from all over the world, with registrants from 32 countries.

Philanthropist Stewart Rahr purchased an oil portrait of DiCaprio painted by Peyton for a cool $1.1 million. “Leo’s a personal friend,” he told Reuters when asked why he bought the painting. “And the environment.”

For 15 years, the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has been raising public awareness about critical environmental issues in order to protect our planet and create a sustainable future. Proceeds from the event will support innovative conservation projects that protect some of the last wild places on earth, plus the endangered species that inhabit them. According to Christie’s, an anonymous collector contributed $5 million to match the prices realized for three tiger paintings created by Longo, Murakami and Zeng Fanzhi. The gifts of many other generous donors totaled $500,000.

Angelina Jolie has made a very bold, and very brave move: the A-list actress just revealed that she has had a double mastectomy to reduce her chances of getting breast cancer.

The 37-year-old actress and philanthropist spoke out about her operation in the New York Times today.

She told her story in a bid to inspire other women to fight the disease.

In her piece she reveals that the operation made it easier for her to comfort her six children that she would not die young as her own mother did at the age of 56.

“We often speak of ‘Mommy’s mommy’, and I find myself trying to explain the illness that took her away from us. They have asked if the same could happen to me,” she wrote, adding, “I have always told them not to worry, but the truth is I carry a ‘faulty’ gene.”

The Oscar-winning actress said her doctors had estimated she had an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer.

“Once I knew this was my reality, I decided to be proactive and to minimize the risk as much as I could. I made a decision to have a preventive double mastectomy,” she said.

Her fiance, Brad Pitt, was by her side throughout the three months of treatment that just ended in late April.
