Sushi and Sake with the Celebs at Katsuya Downtown
Last night America was abuzz with red carpet talk for the Golden Globes, and it will likely remain the topic of conversation for the next couple of weeks, right up until the Grammy Awards steal the spotlight away.
In celebration of this year’s 52nd Annual Grammy Awards show on Jan. 31, Haute Living Los Angeles spoke with music mogul Clive Davis as well as the president of The Recording Academy Neil Portnow for the January/February issue.
Continuing with that theme, our Haute Ambassador of Culinary Arts, Chef Katsuya Uechi, talks about the success he has experienced at his latest SBE restaurant, Katsuya Downtown at L.A. Live. The L.A. Live entertainment campus is not only the venue where the Grammy’s will be broadcast from, but is also home to the L.A. Lakers, a proximity that has allowed for famous star athletes to enjoy sushi and sake after the games. In fact, Kobe Bryant has become such a regular at Katsuya Downtown that the menu will soon include a special dish named after him. As the great chef tells readers, “the Kobe Bryant Platter will feature Kobe Wagyu beef from Japan with a plum red wine reduction over white rice.” He goes on to share that support from the music industry has also been overwhelming at L.A. Live and details an evening after the American Music Awards when Fergie, Kobe, Ron Artest, Will-i-Am, Jay-Z, Alex Rodriguez, and Kate Hudson all dined together at a VIP table.
