The Success of 15 Central Park West Proves that Architecture is a Powerful Selling Point

With a legendary architect and successful developers behind Fifteen Central Park West, it’s no surprise that the two-building condo have sold out through a list of red-carpet owners, even before it’s ready to lodge them. The condo designed by none other than Robert A.M Stern, and developed by the family force of brothers Arthur and William Lie Zeckendorf, have elevated the luxe definition of the Upper-East Side (Yeah, we also thought that wasn’t possible…) The Zeckendorfs bought the property at $69/sq, spent about $1,130/sq. to build their 886,000-square-foot two-tower condos and amassed a final profit of about $1.9 billion, which represents 26 percent of the tower’s profit. A development that takes up the entire block formed by Central Park West, 61st and 62nd streets, and Broadway, It encompasses 201 units in two towers. The units have large public spaces with over-sized windows that capture superb views of Central Park, huge kitchens and closets, and spacious terraces. The Zeckendorfs offered buyers 29 maid’s suites on the lower floors to accommodate live-in staff without actually living with them. And also profited from 30 wine rooms surrounding an octagonal tasting area that were sold separately. Stern incorporated many finishing touches to accentuate the condos’ classic template. Stern’s brilliant architectural layouts, space and style throughout Fifteen Central Park West are as strong a selling point as location, since the condos attracted a preeminent roster of celebrities such as Sting, Denzel Washington, Norman Lear, Nascar’s Jeff Gordon, and Bob Costas. An accent usually ignored by developers: architectural appeal, still proves to be important!
