Savory bites, decadent desserts and scientific libations were the inspiration for the San Francisco preview party of Vegas Uncork’d, Bon’Apetit Magazine’s annual “foodstravaganza”. Over 150 influential members of media, San Francisco notables and enthusiastic foodies were invited to Hakkasan to experience a small tasting of what Vegas Uncork’d has to offer.

Over 400 guests gathered on February 20 for the Asian Art Museum’s opening night gala celebrating its latest exhibition, China’s Terracotta Warriors: The First Emperor’s Legacy. The exhibit reveals a rare glimpse of 10 lifesize terracotta warriors from the collection of more than 7,000 life-sized figures, which were first unearthed in 1974 in the underground burial complex of China’s First Emperor, Qin Shihuang. The exhibit was unveiled on February 22 and will run through May 22.

A special screening of the film Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel was held at the Castro Theater, followed by a Q&A with Fashion Icon Joy Venturini Bianchi. The theatre rolled out the red carpet – a fitting tribute – to Diana Vreeland, the ”Empress of Fashion.” She enjoyed a 50-year reign in the industry that included a 25-year career as Fashion Editor of Harper’s Bazaar, Editor In Chief at Vogue and her final act at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The screening, hosted by Mark Rhoades and sponsored by Banana Republic, brought style aficionados who donned red attire in honor of Vreeland’s favorite color.

Max Mara donated ten percent of sales from that night to the Opera Guild.

Museum Director, Jay Xu, remarked that the wonderful collection was a perfect match to the eighth ‘wonder of the world’, the Terracotta Warriors, which will be on display throughout the exhibition.
