Believe it or not, there is one thing in life that terrifies George Clooney.
That would be singing in public, which Neil Diamond convinced the Oscar winner to do while being honored at Barbara Davis’ Carousel of Hope gala Saturday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Clasping a bottle of wine for liquid courage, the actor, who received the “Brass Ring Award” for his philanthropic efforts, sang the chorus to Diamond’s hit “Sweet Caroline.”
His girlfriend, former “Dancing With the Stars” champ Stacy Keibler, watched laughingly from the sidelines, as did Sidney Poitier and Jane Fonda.
Though Clooney was the star of the evening, several other A-list names were in attendance to help raise funds for the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes.
Shirley MacLaine, Quincy Jones, Clive Davis, Smokey Robinson, KISS co-founders Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, Alan Thicke, Carmen Electra, Carrie Ann Inaba, Charlene Tilton, Cheryl Burke, Daisy Fuentes, Diego Boneta, Donna Mills, Gayle King, Harry Hamlin, Hill Harper, Holly Robinson-Peete, James Van Praagh, Jennifer Garth, Joan Collins, Joan Van Ark, Julianne Hough, Loretta Devine, Mimi Rogers, Nicky, Rick and Kathy Hilton, Nicollette Sheridan, Sasha Alexander, Thora Birch and Tommy Thayer were on hand to raise $2.5 million for the organization.
Mercedes Benz presented the 400-person gala, which featured additional performances from Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and “American Idol” runner-up Jessica Sanchez.
Guests sipped on Belvedere vodka and Chandon wines while noshing on Filet Mignon, Baked Alaska and shrimp salad.
