Michael Kors Receives 2013 Couture Council Award

The COUTURE COUNCIL of the MUSEUM at FIT 7TH Annual Fashion Award Benefit Luncheon Honoring MICHAEL KORS

On 4 September, the Couture Council of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology honored Michael Kors with its 2013 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion. The award was given at a benefit luncheon at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater, New York City and presented by Hilary Swank. Notable guests included Anna Wintour, Aerin Lauder, Iman, Lily Aldridge, Doutzen Kroes, Chanel Iman, Alexandra Richards, Patti Hansen, Nina Arianda and Harley Viera Newton.

Also at the luncheon, Kim Nguyen, a third-semester Fashion Design student at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), was named as the first recipient of the Michael Kors Endowed Scholarship. Kors donated $1 million to FIT to establish the scholarship that will be awarded annually to a Fashion Design student who demonstrates exceptional talent in Fashion Design, but whose educational endeavors are limited by financial constraints. All costs associated with a bachelor’s degree program at FIT, including tuition, housing, materials, and books, are covered, as is a year of study at FIT’s program in Milan, Italy, at Politecnico di Milano. The scholarship also provides mentorship and the opportunity to intern at Michael Kors.

Michael Kors is located at The Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates.
