Love magazine editor and stylist Katie Grand collaborates with Italian brand Hogan for a second season to produce a special collection for Autumn/Winter 13/14.
Entitled GANG, the line builds on the success of last season’s collection. In addition to the two styles of sneakers – the ballerina shoe, leather purses and sunglasses – there are cases for iPads and iPhones, a tap shoe, a skate shoe and a new wheeled travel bag. New materials are incorporated as well such as suede and calfskin; sleek patent leather and strong, sturdy canvas.
The strong and bold aesthetic features the brand’s signature heart motif – a nod to Love, the biannual fashion magazine that Katie Grand founded and edits. “This time around we’ve gone big on zebra stripe,” she says of this second collection. “For no other reason than because it felt right and looked great splashed across the products.”
Also out is a the second issue of GANG, the large-format magazine created to celebrate the collaboration. Featuring an epic shoot by photographer Daniel Jackson and styled by Grand, it stars a spectacular line-up of Grand’s model friends alongside the full collection: Edie Campbell, Abbey Clancy, Eliza Cummings, Cara Delevingne, Poppy Delevingne, Ondria Hardin, Tallulah Harlech, Xiaomeng Huang, Liya Kebede, Doutzen Kroes, Chiharu Okunugi, Liberty Ross, Stephanie Seymour and Ruby Jean Wilson. They also appear in a film directed by Daniel Jackson, which is set to a soundtrack of Cara Delevingne performing THE 80s HIT “I Want Candy”.
‘We have all been very excited to see where Katie would take Gang next,” says President of Hogan and Vice-President of the Tod’s Group, Andrea Della Valle, who initially invited Grand to collaborate with the brand. “Last season she established an aesthetic that was strong and sophisticated, with a young and glamorous appeal. It has been very rewarding to watch this grow and we feel this collection brings Hogan’s distinctive lifestyle a step forward.”
The collection will be available at Hogan boutiques and selected windows worldwide from late July 2013.
