Sitting downtown, in the Mies van der Rohe building (330 North Wabash), is one of 2013’s most anticipated hotel openings, The Langham Chicago. The Langham Hospitality Group is bringing its iconic brand of hospitality to the city of Chicago with a 316-room testament to all that is sophisticated and luxurious. With roots that go all the way back to Europe’s original grand hotel, Langham London, opened by the Prince of Wales in 1865, you can expect nothing less than opulence and elegance from the soon-to-be-opened Langham, Chicago.
The hotel will be in the 52 story, Mies Van der Rohe designed, “IBM Building.” Declared a national landmark in 2008, it’s the perfect setting for the Langham, which prides itself on managing luxury properties with historical value. CEO of Langham Hospitality, Brett Butcher, had this to say about location, “This much-loved and historic Chicago landmark is a perfect match for the Langham as we respectfully weave our heritage into the fabric of one of the world’s great cities. The Langham, Chicago will honor the iconic status of the Mies van der Rohe Building, capturing its original spirit of innovation, heralding a new era in luxury hospitality in the city.”
The amenities will be top notch as well. Besides featuring magnificent views, “a full service restaurant, bar and lounge will follow in the footsteps of Langham’s other Michelin star winning restaurants” The hotel will also have 15,000 square feet of meeting space and an award-winning wellness retreat that’s based on the principles of Traditional Chinese medicine, Chuan Spa. With the hopes of becoming the best spa in the city, the facilities cover almost 9,000 square feet. Whether you’re a tourist or a resident, this will definitely be the place to look into come this summer.
