Actor James Franco was the guest of honor at the 2013 LA Art Show opening night premiere party at the Los Angeles Convention Center on January 23.

The evening of creativity and philanthropy began with a patron reception from 7-8 p.m. at the Los Angeles Convention Center’s South Hall. The opening night premiere party followed from 8-11 p.m. and included a special appearance by guest of honor James Franco. According to the LA Art Show website, L.A.’s top collectors and benefactors came together to “support bringing kids to art and art to kids.”

The opening party kicked off the 18th annual LA Art Show, a multi-day art exhibition show, according to Allie is Wired website. This year’s art show focused on a new exhibit called “Letters From Los Angeles”, which “showcases L.A. and how it is uniquely identified and self-identified through text.”

In addition to Franco, other Hollywood elite attended the opening party, including Bria Murphy and SNL’s Kevin Nealon.

The LA Art Show was created by FADA, the longest running venue for contemporary, modern, historic and traditional art in the country, but was recently acquired by The Palm Beach Show Group. This year’s show featured “top galleries and programming, including lectures, tours, special exhibits and must-attend parties,” according to LA Art Show.
