After being banished from diets for a decade, carbs are definitely a thing. From cakes to cookies these haute bakeries are the perfect place to get your fix and keep you out of the kitchen over the holidays.
1 Ice Box Café
Everyone knows Ice Box Café serves Oprah’s favorite cake, but they have a full menu of savory dishes, as well. The Ice Box has recently branched out to Miami International Airport and is getting ready to move over to the Sunset Harbor area on the beach. Until then, enjoy their Lincoln locale and all the cookies and cakes you can stand.
2 Lee & Marie’s Cakery
This new addition to South Pointe, is named for the owner's aunts who knew their way around a cake. Look for interesting and natural ingredients in their danishes and croissants. Meanwhile residents are just happy for a cute spot with Panther coffee and warm carbs.
3 Acme Bakery
The latest addition from the folks at Pious Pig, Acme is a retro and thoroughly American bakery. Look for torpedoes instead of baguettes and whole-wheat crescents. Just don’t look for any cupcakes here; they don’t have them. Instead enjoy sweat biscotti and cookies.
4 Cookies By Shar
This cookie queen provides cookies to celebs, big time events and even Whole Foods, so she can easily handle a batch of Christmas cookies for your family. No, it won't look like you made them, they are far too perfect for that, but they are so good nobody will care. Try her key lime, shortbread, or gingerbread cookies and brownies too.
5 Misha’s Cupcakes
Misha’s is about as close as we get to Magnolia here in Miami. With unique flavors like the Nutella Cupcake and Guava with Cream Cheese Cupcake, and fresh batches throughout the day, Misha’s is the best place to head for a quick cupcake fix. For those serving hostess withdraws try her Twinkies.
