In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, six Los Angeles chefs are coming together to help raise funds for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation in the first “Pink Apron” dinner organized by Karen Hatfield.
Chef Karen Hatfield is hosting a one-night dinner at Hatfield’s on October 8 with the help from dive of L.A.’s best female chefs, including Suzanne Tracht (Jar), Mary Sue Miliken (Border Grill), Dakota Weiss (W Hotel Los Angeles) and Nyesha Arrington (Wilshire) with dessert by Sherry Yard (Spago).
Hatfield hopes to make the Pink Apron dinner an annual event, pairing women chefs, winemakers and cookbook authors in an event that raises funds for breast cancer research.
This year, the five-course dinner starts with hors d’oeuvres like goat cheese panna cotta and deviled quail eggs with smoked trout. Weiss will then present fall squash carpaccio with crispy Padrón peppers and Milliken will serve bean and bacon tostada with verdolaga. Then Tracht’s seared Cape Ann scallops and a to-be-determined meat course from Arrington will be presented. Finally, a dessert from Yard called, “Rocks – Pebbles – Chocolate” will complete the meal.
Wine pairings from female winemakers will also be available and Charlotte Druckman, author of the new book Skirt Steak: Women Chefs on Standing the Heat and Staying in the Kitchen, will be in attendance.
Per person the five-course meal costs $110 and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research.
