What’s On My Desk: Leon Baum of London’s Stafford Hotel

Leon Baum took over the reins as General Manager of The Stafford Hotel by Kempinski in March 2011, and since then it’s been a 24-hour a day job. “There are never enough hours in the day,” he says. So he keeps a few things nearby to keep him going and inspired to run one of London’s most luxurious 5-star hotels.

Hugging Bears
These hugging bears hold a very special place in my heart. A gift from a client of The Stafford on the birth of my twins, Matthew and Claudia, in August 2010. This regular client has since become a good friend and whenever she stays with us, I always make the effort to bring Matthew and Claudia into the hotel to say hello.

Kempinski Plaque
This was awarded to The Stafford at the General Managers’ Meeting in the summer of 2010. Kempinski took over the management of The Stafford in February that year, therefore it was wonderful to receive such recognition by the management company in such a short space of time.

Olympic Pin Badges
With the recent exciting events in London, I was honoured to be presented with these only last week by the Russian delegation who were staying at The Stafford. The box contains 33 badges representing all the sporting disciplines that the Russian Olympic team are taking part in during these London Olympics. This presentation box will take its place in the American Bar along with the other pieces of memorabilia that have been donated by Stafford clients over the years.
