Voting for Emirates Woman of the Year Awards Kicks Off

Voting is now open for the 2012 Emirates Woman of the Year Awards. Considered to be the most prestigious, glamorous and inspiring celebration of women’s achievements in the region, the Awards are now in their seventh year and feature four categories; The Achievers, The Artists, The Humanitarians and The Visionaries. The line up of 20 nominees for this year looks impressive; philanthropists to serial entrepreneurs, fashion designers to CEOs, all women who are making ripples in the region.

Our favorites include Tamara Al-Gabbani who juggles presenting, producing, acting, modelling and designing (she was awarded Best Dressed at Cannes Film Festival this year wearing one of her own designs); Afra Al Basti who launched the Dubai Foundation For Women and Children which provides shelter for victims of domestic violence, child abuse and human trafficking; Rosemin Manji who founded RR&Co Bespoke Luxury Management which has facilitated the entry of brands such as Christian Louboutin, Tom Ford, Giuessepe Zanotti into the Middle East; Najla Essa Al-Ansari who founded and runs Polished Spa, the first lucury day spa in Sharjah and Zeina Abdalla, the savy founder of Fishfayce, the first digital photo-booth company in the region

Previous winners of this acclaimed award include the pioneer of second hand-luxe in the region, Maha Abdul Rasheed who founded Bambah Boutique, the Middle East’s first vintage store, and Elham Al-Qasimi, the first Emirati female and UAE national to reach the North Pole.
