An awards ceremony just wouldn’t be haute without a few good parties, and luckily, the 2012 Emmy Award bashes didn’t disappoint.
Though there were surprisingly few parties on the night of – HBO and the Governors Ball were the places to be – the History Channel, Entertainment Weekly and Showtime all threw their own parties to celebrate TV’s most glamorous evening this weekend.
THE GOVERNORS BALL
As per usual, many of the Emmy attendees passed through the official post-party, The Governors Ball. This year’s theme was “A Romantic Rhapsody in Red.”
Zooey Deschanel, Christina Hendricks, Mayim Bialik, Heidi Klum and Jon Cryer were among the celebrities who attended the fete, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center across the street from the Nokia Theater.
Guests mingled, sipped at champagne and noshed on smoked salmon avocado sphere, roasted tenderloin with mushroom risotto fries and white chocolate raspberry cake.
HBO
“Game Change” star and winner Julianne Moore held court at the floral-themed bash, held at the West Hollywood’s Pacific Design Center.
Guests such as Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Alexander Skarsgard, Sam Trammel and Steve Buscemi dined on such dishes as kale salad, purple roasted potatoes and chicken with gnocchi.
BAFTA TEA PARTY
The haute crowd came out to attend Saturday’s BAFTA Tea Party at The London Hotel. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Edie Falco, Aaron Paul, Hugh Bonneville, Stephen Moyer, Sarah Paulson, and Eric Stonestreet were among the guests who sipped on vodka cocktails and SmartWater to combat the sweltering heat.
The event also featured a silent auction to raise funds and awareness of their expanding Outreach and Philanthropic programs including their Heritage Archive and Inner City Cinema programs.
VARIETY/WOMEN IN FILM
Some of the most beautiful women in Hollywood attended Variety and Women in Film’s pre-Emmy bash at Scarpetta on Friday night. Christina Hendricks, Amy Poehler, Martha Plimpton, Loretta Devine, Mare Winningham and Julia Ormond Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
All guests nibbled on delights prepared by celebrity chef Scott Conant.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
The biggest fete of the 2012 Emmy season was Entertainment Weekly’s Saturday night party. Anyone who was anyone in the television industry attended the fete, which was held at West Hollywood eatery Fig & Olive (they may have just gone for the food).
The event, which was presented by L’Oréal Paris, was attended by Garcelle Beauvais, Mechad Brooks, Ty Burrell, Scott Caan, Erika Christensen, Eliza Coupe, Jenna Elfman, Peter Facinelli, Michelle Fairley, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Nathan Fillion, Lucy Hale, Jared Harris, Chris Harrison, Sarah Hyland, Mindy Kaling, Padma Lakshmi, Matt Lanter, Jason Lee, Bill Maher, Joe Manganiello, Stephen Moyer, Reid Scott, Jessica Szohr, Michael Urie, Kate Walsh, Sela Ward, Kristen Wiig, Allison Williams and Kevin Williamson, among others.
HISTORY CHANNEL
Kevin Costner was the guest of honor at History Channel’s pre-Emmy party at Soho House on Saturday night.
Given the fete was in honor of our cover subject’s Emmy-winning mini-series, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Costner, who attended with wife Christine Baumgartner, were the stars of the evening.
Jena Malone and Keke Palmer were also in attendance.
SHOWTIME
Showtime’s pre-Emmy party should have been held post-event, given than Homeland scored a major upset by breaking “Mad Men”‘s winning streak.
Claire Danes, Damian Lewis, Edie Falco, Michael C. Hall, John Legend, Don Cheadle, Morena Baccarin, Beau Bridges, Jennifer Carpenter, Mandy Patinkin, Merritt Wever, David Harewood and Navid Negahban were on hand to catch a live performance from John Legend at the Sunset Towers Hotel. The “Duets” mentor played a half-hour concert, including hits like Save Room, Stay with You, Dancing in the Dark and Here Comes the Sun.
