The Beatrice Inn
285 West 12th Street, near Hudson Street
Opens second week in September
Restaurateur Graydon Carter’s revamp of the Beatrice Inn classes up the former party palace. Sneak-peak parties reveal the space’s sophisticated new look: a blend of antique mirrors, hunter green banquettes and dark mahogany. Former Per Se sous chef Brian Nasworthy is in the kitchen with a menu of classic chophouse fare.
L’Apicio
13 East 1st Street, near Bowery
Opens late September
The team behind West Village favorites L’Artusi, Dell’Anima and Anfora bring their brand east. L’Apicio will open in what was the Bowery Wine Co. Expect a charming date spot offering Italian-inspired bites by Gabe Thompson and cocktails and wines by Joe Campanale.
Bill’s
East 54th Street, near Third Avenue
Opens late September
John DeLucie is creating an American grill in the former home of Bill’s Gay Nineties. The bar will be downstairs with the dining room above, and it will feature design details from the old establishment.
The Library at The Public Theater
425 Lafayette Street, between Astor Place and East 4th Street
Opens second week in October
Acclaimed chef Andrew Carmellini will debut two new restaurants this fall. The Library, named because it sits on the site of New York’s first public library, will take the space of the newly expanded mezzanine level of the Public Theatre. Carmellini’s American menu will feature shareable appetizers and bar snacks. Thoughtfully paired cocktails, wines, and craft beers make it an ideal pre-show destination. The second of his new projects, an as-of-now unnamed French restaurant, will be at 380 Lafayette Street, near East 4th Street. We’ll keep you updated!
The Marrow
99 Bank Street, near Hudson Street
Opens mid-November
The Marrow, a project by Top Chef alum Harold Dieterle, is set to be a big opening of the fall. Italian and German cuisines take the stage; menu highlights include steaks, ostrich schnitzel and bison carpaccio. Situated in the former Paris Commune space, expect The Marrow to be perfect for both special occasions and casual weeknight dining.
Willow Rd.
85 10th Avenue, between 15th and 16th Streets
Opens in November
Willow Rd. will present simple, flavorful and locally sourced cooking by executive chef Colby Wood, former sous chef at Le Bernardin. Set in NYC’s Meatpacking District and facing the Highline, Willow Rd. shares a design team with ABC Kitchen, so a beautiful interior can be expected.
Carbone
181 Thompson Street, near Bleecker Street
Opens late November
Team Torrisi is at it again with their restaurant Carbone. In late November, chefs Mario Carbone and Rich Torrisi will open the upscale, mid-century Italian eatery in the old Rocco Restaurant venue. The duo hopes to achieve a familial but sophisticated ambiance based on a concept called “piacere,” which means “as you like it.”
