This weekend the Pacific Symphony started with a bang with the help of Andre Watts. This Thursday night at 8 pm, Lang Lang will perform Beethoven’s “Emperor” Concerto and Liszt’s Piano Concerto no.1 at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. On Thursday, opening night at 7 pm, The LA Phil and Dudamel comes back featuring a celebration of dance and orchestral music with the help of Leonard Bernstein and John Adams, along with the American Ballet Theatre.
The weekend offers a combination of concerts from Ravel to Steven Stucky to Stravinksy’s Rite of Spring, starting with Friday’s concert at 8 pm, secondly Saturday at 8pm and lastly, Sunday at 2pm. But that’s not all, the next weekend kicks off with “Songs of the World” at The Pasadena Master Chorale with music from the Americas, Scotland, and Japan. The First Congregational Church in Pasadena will showcase a performance on Saturday at 7:30 pm and another concert will be held at the Altadena Community Church on Sunday at 4 pm.
Shostakovich’s 6th Symphony will begin their celebration in music with a special headliner, Rachmaninoff’s 3rd Concerto and the Colburn Orchestra debuts their season at the Ambassador Auditorium on Saturday at 7:30 pm. Also, free tickets can be purchased or reserved here.
