Haute Party Preview: MTV Video Music Awards

It’s that time of the year again—when the biggest and brightest stars in Hollywood moon walk their way into Staples Center to bask in a night of alter egos, interrupted speeches and other surprises that define the MTV Video Music Awards.

Hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, who warns those in attendance that “nobody is safe,” expect marquee appearances from “Call Me Maybe” mega-hit Carly Rae Jepsen, the fab five winning U.S. Olympics gymnastics team, hunky teen idols and Rihanna, who’ll kick off the show with A$AP.

While much will be said about what goes on during the show, there will surely be water cooler moments once it wraps. Here’s a roundup of the hottest VMAs after parties:

This annual party pits celebrity gossip reporters with young Hollywood stars in what Bauer Entertainment Group vice president Charlie McNiff says is a signature event for the weekly entertainment publication. Past guests include Kid Rock, David Spade, Leona Lewis and the “Jersey Shore” clan.
