Anne Hathaway Goes Off-Broadway, Will Sing At Joe’s Pub

As anyone who watched her ill-conceived stint as Oscar co-host with James Franco knows, Anne Hathaway has some decent pipes and likes to use them. The movie star will stretch her vocal chords again on October 24 at Joe’s Pub. She’ll sing songs from Cabaret, the classic Kander and Ebb musical and subsequent movie about transgressive nightlife in Nazi-era Berlin.

Joe’s Pub closed for three months of renovations last summer, and The Public Theater that houses it will reveal its own $40 million facelift on October 4. Hathaway’s performance, dubbed “Perfectly Marvelous” after a song in the musical, is a one-off, but events marking the spruced up Public will take place throughout the month. Hathaway’s next dance with a Broadway classic comes in December, when she’ll star in a movie adaptation of Les Misérables due out Christmas Day.
