Brent Bolthouse appeared at the opening of his latest hot spot in a tuxedo on Thursday night, but the vibe he’s created at The Bungalow is as far from Hollywood as you can possibly get.
In fact, the vibe at at his new beachfront hideaway is so relaxed, so laid-back that you have to wonder if Bolthouse is changing the definition of “cool.”
For starters, there’s no red velvet rope. Then there’s the fact that the nightlife impresario has gone rogue, choosing the Westside over WeHo; his new boîte is tucked away inside Santa Monica’s Fairmont Miramar Hotel, just a stone’s throw away from the beach.
Hanging out at The Bungalow is like hanging out at your best friend’s home (albeit a very well decorated one). There are fire pits, glass lanterns hanging from the trees, soft leather couches and cosy little bungalows in lieu of standard poolside cabanas for privacy.
Stars including Kellan Lutz and Ryan Kwanten certainly seemed to think so as they arrived for the opening night festivities, which was hosted by KCRW’s Jason Bentley and featured a live performance by Donovan, nibbles from Chef Ray Garcia of FIG restaurant and homemade sangrias and margaritas using ingredients from the local farmers market.
The Bungalow will be open to the public Tuesday through Saturday (5pm to close) and Sunday (2pm to 10pm). The Bungalow will also be available to rent for private gatherings and special events.
The Bungalow officially opens its doors today and will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 pm to close and Sunday from 2 pm to close.
