On July 28, 2012, the 3rd annual Glide Fundraising Gala drew quite a stunning show of support.

Sponsored by the Glide Legacy Commitee, the Gala was a celebration of  leadership and community, honoring the efforts of those who work to improve the lives of people in their communities.

The black tie affair began with a buzz of positivity that swelled through the evening by the time the star awards were presented.

Jeremy Affeldt, San Francisco Giants relief pitcher, was on hand to graciously accept his GLIDE Community Hero award for his work to end child poverty and human trafficking.

The Cecil Williams Legacy Award, the second honor of the evening, was presented to San Francisco 49er Vernon Davis for his community efforts, which include the Vernon and Vontae Davis Family Foundation, the Starkey Hearing Foundation and Pros for Africa. San Francisco 49er CEO Jed York was on hand to accept for Davis.

Finally, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, award-winning filmmaker and activist, was honored with the Janice Mirikitani Legacy Award for her work as director, writer and producer of the critically acclaimed documentary, Miss Representation. Newsom made a powerful and thought-provoking acceptance speech as Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom sat in the audience in support.

The fabulous night continued with a live auction, food, music and dancing.  With over 900 in attendance, the Gala raised upwards of $50,000.
