Chanel’s Little Black Jacket at the Saatchi Gallery

What do you get when creative genius Karl Lagerfeld and editor extraordinaire Carine Riotfeld collaborate for Chanel? One of the most beautiful and modern exhibitions to grace London’s Saatchi Gallery. The upcoming The Little Black Jacket: Chanel’s Classic Revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld, is a stunning visual exhibition based Lagerfeld’s latest book, in which the designer explores the timeless beauty of the iconic black jacket originally created by Coco Chanel herself.
In the images excerpted from the book, the jacket is modeled by a diverse range of personalities, from civilians to supermodels, reflecting the versatility of this iconic piece, which adapts to each woman’s individual style. Carine Roitfeld, former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, helped style the photos. Roitfeld’s playful creative influence is showcased in shots where singer Lily Allen wears the jacket as a cape or where supermodel Stella Tennant wears the jacket languidly off-the-shoulders. The classic Chanel jacket is reinvented over and over again.
To celebrate the opening of the exhibition at Saatchi Gallery, each Chanel’s London locations – at Bond Street, Sloane Square and Bromptom Cross – will showcase unique window displays based on the iconic jacket’s A/W ’12 iteration. In addition, Karl Lagerfeld’s book The Little Black Jacket: Chanel’s Classic Revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld will hit bookstores worldwide in the fall.
The exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery will run from October 12 – 28.
