The Miami HEAT Officially Welcome Ray Allen to the Team

Today, the Miami HEAT’s new offensive player, Ray Allen, officially announced his move from the Boston Celtics to the HEAT. Accompanied by HEAT President Pat Riley and Head Coach Erik Spoelstra, Allen shared his sentiments about leaving the Celtics and what he most looks forward to during this new chapter. “I think it was maybe July 6 if my days are correct,” said Allen of the moment the decision was made. “There was a moment when I just had to decide. I was thinking about, going over the course of a season, how I was going to be able to contribute. I felt as though I contributed a great deal to that organization [Boston Celtics] and they’ve been so good to me and my family. There was a moment when I talked to people around me that watch me and have followed me forever. They just said, ‘Change is not bad. You have to consider this.’ You have to figure whether this organization is going to be beneficial to the way you play basketball.” And clearly the Miami HEAT was.

And as we wait in anticipation for the next NBA season to commence, Allen is excited to bring new life to his game. “Boston was very traditional. Here I look forward to the high octane offense.”
