Table 26 Opens in Palm Beach

Table 26 is open and booming!

Last month, Table 26, the highly-anticipated new West Palm Beach restaurant opened its doors to the public. Partners Eddie Schmidt (the former maître d’ at the Palm Beach Grill) and Ozzie Medeiros are not new to the business—they owned, and recently sold, two restaurants in Nantucket, LOLA 41 and LOLA Burger.

“Ozzie and I have been thinking about this concept for some time now,” said Schmidt. “We chose the West Palm Beach location because of the year round and close knit community. It’s important to us that people come in, look at the menu, decide what they want and then go back to focusing on their company while we take care of the rest.”

Table 26 (where the 26 refers to the latitude of Palm Beach) boasts a sophisticated style with a Ralph Lauren-esque nautical theme, clean crisp white linens, wood accents and complimenting blue colors. The vibe is both Palm Beach refinement and casual elegance.

The menu is full of global homestyle comfort food, the creation of married team Steven (executive chef) and Joanna (pastry chef) Polowy. Among appetizers: beef brisket tacos with red chile sauce and grilled jalapeno-corn salsa, friend calamari pad thai, and prosciutto roasted peaches. Entrees: wild mushroom omelette with bistro cut sirloin, wagyu meatloaf with mushroom gravy and herb whipped potatoes and beef short rib stroganoff with egg noodles. There is also a good salad selection, my favorite being the roasted beets with toasted hazlenuts, baby spinach, pears and goat cheese.

No matter what you get, do yourself a favor and leave room for dessert!
