Hong Kong’s Hotel ICON has just unveiled a suite that has been specially designed by New York-based fashion designer Vivienne Tam who is known for her “China chic” brand.
Tam is an alumnus of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), which owns the Hotel ICON. Paying tribute to her former school, Tam has designed a suite at the property in her signature “China chic”. The hotel is currently promoting iconic artists and designers and Tam made sense for the project due to her talent and background.
“As an alumnus of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, it is an honor to take on this challenging project. It’s on my way of contributing to the very school that nurtured my interest in fashion design,” said Tam.
With sweeping views of Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour, Hotel ICON’s 80-square-meter suite designed by Tam is located on the 27th floor of the hotel and features modern design, Chinese accents and the principles of feng shui.
The suite also features varying shapes, organic forms and objects and a warm palette of rich woods and textured marble.
“Like one’s home, this space is meant to change and grow. I wanted it to be uncluttered, a free space to dream,” said Tam.
Richard Hatter, the General Manager of Hotel ICON, said, “This is a particularly special collaboration for us for two reasons. It underscores Hotel ICON’s mission to be unlike any other while at the same time showcasing and celebrating one of our truly own homegrown talents.”
To celebrate the unveiling of the Tam-designed room, the Hotel ICON is offering a “Vivienne Tam Urban Retreat package”, which includes a night’s accommodation in the designer’s new suite, complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and mixed berries delivered to your room upon arrival, a 90-minute massage for two at Angsana Spa by Banyan Tree, a 7-course set dinner for two at the award-winning Above & Beyond Chinese Restaurant, breakfast for two at Above & Beyond Lounge, discount vouchers for gift purchases and exclusive access to Above & Beyond Club, which includes complimentary afternoon tea and evening cocktails. The package is available from July 1 through August 31.
