As of June 1st, Rio Grande has officially opened with fine bourbon and mouth-watering cocktails. Scott Baird and Josh Harris joined together after opening Trick Dog in the Mission, only to open this A Temporary Offering: Rio Grande. Many may be wondering what a temporary offering is in the business sense? Well, in the base of the Renoir Hotel located at 7th and Market, there is a trio of semi-permanent businesses that have a possibility of making it into the next year or not. For instance, just last month FoodLab opened its doors and following their grand opening Rio Grande opened the first week of June.

Rio Grande combines a theme of the South meets South of the Border, with cleverly mixed concoctions like the Rio Grande a drink in which inspired the bar. This drink features Reposado tequila and bourbon, making it a delightful blend, as guests preview the menu that includes much more bourbon inspired drinks.

As for the décor, the bar features vintage ads of Wild Turkey bourbon and Espelon tequila on the wall by the side of the bar, 40s an 50s Mexican newspaper wallpapered on the walls, large black banquettes from the former Etiquette Lounge, one mirrored alcove that has been created as a shrine for the Virgin Mary, but to add to it, every night at 5pm the sacred statue lights up.

So if you’re in the mood to try a taste of Texas meets Mexico, come down to Rio Grande at 1108 Market Street at 7th.
