Originally founded by Phillip Sylvester and rocker Tommy Lee, ROKBAR aimed to provide South Beach locals with music and entertainment reminiscent of the rock ‘n’ roll days. With new management on board, ROKBAR’s image has been recreated, stemming closer to the original vision for the nightclub.
ROKBAR created a safe haven for locals to dodge the throngs of tourists while head bopping to underground music. Before becoming household names, ROKBAR had booked DJs and acts such as Theophilus London, MSTRKRFT, Neon Indian and LA Riots; expanding musical awareness in the Miami scene. The music was surely there, but in a city where what’s hot is ever-changing, ROKBAR struggled to maintain its status.
Enter: Marketing Tastemaker Stephan Morris and Serial Entrepreneur Hershey Jakob.
Heading this operation, the duo strives to return to an earlier time where ROKBAR’s mission was to bring to life the culture of rock ‘n’ roll. This time around, expect live music combined with genres like Classic, Indie, Glam Rock, House, Electronic and Hip-Hop.
