My friends Lily and Laura have launched an amazing new bathing suit line called Été Swim. The line is available via trunkshow on modaoperandi.com now through June 8th.
Check out a special Q&A below with designer Laura Poretzky-Garcia to learn more about Été.
- What is Été all about?
My partner Lily Dickerson Maddock and I blended our American and European backgrounds to create this new line of swim wear. Été translates to summer in French and the line is simply about beautiful swimwear. We want to create timeless swimwear with modern constructions, fabrics, and unparalleled fit. We were inspired by the greatest bathing beauties: Brigitte Bardot, Verushka, and Romy Schneider.
- Why have you decided to return and launch this new line with Moda Operandi?
We decide to launch with Moda Operandi because of our friendship with Lauren Santo Domingo. She was the person who brought Lily and I together because she knew we would make an excellent team.
- What do you think is big for swim right now?
We feel that simplicity and “back to the basics” is important in swim right now. We were tired of looking at triangle bikinis in every print imaginable. We wanted something more simple and beautiful with a modern vintage feel.
- Plans for the future? Is Été just swim or are the plans to expand to more categories?
We are focusing on swim for now. We want to master it- both in the look and the technology. We want our pieces to be timeless and last a lifetime.
