Julie Macklowe, Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos and Susan Shin hosted an intimate dinner party earlier this week at 620 Loft&Garden. The evening celebrated empowered women and marked the global partnership between Zacapa Rum and Seven Bar Foundation, a non-profit organization that extends ladders to women out of poverty and into self-sufficiency through microfinance.
Guests like renowned contemporary cellist Maya Beiser (whose latest project was the musical score for Snow White and the Huntsman), Cheryl Casone, Donna D’Cruz, Valesca Guerrand-Hermes, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Gillian Hearst-Simonds, Alexandra Lebenthal, Alexandra Lind Rose, Tatiana and Campion Platt, Guy Laroche Artistic Director Marcel Marongiu, Tom Murrrow, designer Vivienne Tam and Lauran Tuck joined the long, communal table adorned with overflowing orchids and candles against a gold and black themed tabletop. Guests savored Chef Patrick Phelan’s tasting menu infused with Zacapa Rum along with specialty Zacapa Rum cocktail pairings created by Zacapa Brand Ambassador Tekla Israelson.
Julie Macklowe looked sultry and sweet in a lemon Chantilly lace HONOR dirndl topped with an Alexander McQueen black rubber harness and Dayssi Olarte Kanavos, Valesca Guerrand-Hermes, Tatiana Platt, Alexandra Lebenthal and Lauran Tuck, all wore dresses by HONOR (designed by Giovanna Randall and made from NYC from artisans) in honor of the inspirational women in their lives who helped them achieve their own entrepreneurial success.
At the end of an evening that guests didn’t want to end, they were gifted with a bottle of Zacapa Rum 23 and Zacapa Rum infused truffles from Francois Payard to enjoy later, as well as the much-touted vbeauté IT KIT courtesy of host and entrepreneur, Julie Macklowe. From Guatemala to New York, Zacapa Rum and Seven Bar Foundation prove that empowering women transcends geography and inspire us to join their effort.
