Barbra Streisand Hosts $100K Malibu Dinner for Women’s Health

Singer Barbra Streisand opened her Malibu home to the likes of former President Bill Clinton in a fundraising dinner last night to benefit female cardiovascular research and the Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Under a white tent in her massive backyard, Martin Short MC the evening’s festivities as elite philanthropists from the fashion, film, music and finance industries rallied together to raise funds for women’s heart health.

Along with the dinner that featured heart-healthy vegan dishes, guests were treated to an intimate concert led by the Grammy-winning songstress herself. Streisand performed four songs, including a duet on “Smile” with Josh Groban,” and several other chart-toppers with acclaimed songwriter David Foster on the piano.

Those in attendance include designer Donna Karan, NBC Universal chief Ron Meyer, Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone, and actors Josh Brolin and Diane Lane. Lisa Ling, whose journalist sister Laura was released from captivity in North Korea after Clinton intervened on her behalf, introduced Clinton before he spoke to the crowd about his cardiovascular problems and the importance of heart healthy research.

Guests paid as much as $100,000 to attend the private dinner in Streisand’s company. The Hollywood diva also donated $10 million to create the new research and treatment facility at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and solicited million-dollar donations from fellow wealthy friends.
