While beach barbecues and hot dogs may be the epitome of Memorial Day fare, these restaurants are cooking up appetizing specials to celebrate the holiday weekend in epicurean style.
Fig & Olive
The Melrose Place restaurant is featuring day-to-night promotions including a special three-course prix-fixe weekend brunch ($28 per person), a new summer menu with more than 20 new dishes from executive chef Pascal Lorange and live performances by St. Tropez celebrity DJ, Julien Nolan. From Friday, May 25 through Monday, May 28, guests can enjoy a weekend brunch of Truffle Mushroom Fontina Scrambled Eggs, French Omelet, Fig & Olive Painted Hills Farm Burger, and Mediterranean Mac and Cheese, which they can pair with a complimentary cocktail, coffee and tea, and homemade biscotti. For dinner, the restaurant is featuring its newly launched summer menu, which includes Paella Del Mar, Zucchini Blossom & Goat Cheese Ravioli, and Provence Chicken Paillard. Red O Restaurant
On Wednesday, May 23, the modern Mexican restaurant launched its brand new Street Food Social Hour, which will take place every Tuesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The menu showcases a selection of dishes from chef Rick Bayless’ California-inspired Mexican menu, including oysters ($2 each) with Tomatillo-Habanero Mioneta, Smoky Chipotle-Garlic Salsa; the Street Food Trio ($12) with Smoked Chicken Taquitos, Mexico City-Style Corn Masa Quesadillas and Plantain Sopes; a Tostada Trio ($12) with sashimi-style Alaskan Salmon Tostada, Heirloom Tomato Escabeche, and more. Red O will also serve a variety of specialty margaritas and cocktails for $8, such as the Topolo Margarita and the Alacran Margarita, as well as a selection of wines for $7 and craft beers for $5. www.redorestaurant.com
Burger Lounge
Memorial Day also happens to be National Burger Day, and this West Hollywood joint is celebrating by giving out free burgers all day long. From 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., guests can choose from complimentary selections such as the quinoa veggie burger and wild salmon burger. Limit one per person. www.burgerlounge.com
