“Race to Erase MS” Goes Glam, Raises Over $1 Million

Set behind a hot pink and orange backdrop with low emitting fog machines and a colorful lightshow, the “Race to Erase MS” gala at the Hyatt Regency Plaza went as glam as an 80’s hair metal music video. Musicians, actors and reality stars came out last Friday to support the event, which raised 1.8 million for the Nancy Davis Foundation for Multiple Sclerosis’ research and its Center Without Walls Program.
Cochaired by Tommy Hilfiger-who could not make the event-and Nancy Davis, the gala kicked off with a fashion show by Tommy’s brother Andy’s “Andrew Charles” spring collection. Models for the rockin’ runway show included Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Shannon Elizabeth and Taylor Hicks.
Following the fashion show, guests bid on prizes such as a fashion week package from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York, “Dancing with the Stars” finale tickets plus exotic vacation packages to Fiji. The live auction was presented by “Access Hollywood” host Shaun Robinson and E News’ Jason Kennedy.
What’s a glam rock themed party without roof raising live performances? The indie-electro band Fitz and the Tantrums, “American Idol” winner David Cook and vocal quartet the Tenors jammed out for the event. The evening hit a high when Stevie Wonder hit the stage and played funk favorites “Come Let Me Make Your Love Come Down,” “Higher Ground,” “Easy on Yourself,” “Isn’t She Lovely” and “Superstition” to the star studded guests.
Guests in attendance included Khloe Kardashian-Odom and Lamar Odom, Jon Lovitz, Jack Osbourne, Kathy Hilton, Taylor Armstrong and Camille Grammer.
