Belgian chocolatier Neuhaus has opened a flagship store on Madison Avenue. More than just a chocolate shop, this is part store, part museum, part tasting facility where the surroundings are as lovely as the chocolates are delicious.
Jean Neuhaus is the inventor of the praline, or the filled chocolate, which he created in 1912. Fillings can include caramel ganaches, fruit purees, or even liquor.
This store serves as part shopping experience, part museum, and part chocolate tasting room. The store is decorated with chocolate molds and memorabilia that are over 100 years old.
The avant garde chandelier and small tasting table reinforce that fact that more than a store, this is a destination. This would be an ideal venue for a bridal shower or tasting party for chocoholics.
The chocolates, which can be bought by the pound, come in a variety of iterations. The creamy nougatines and crunchy, nutty gianduja chocolates are only two of the luxury items found in the glass display case.
